POLYWISE – Polymer-Based Waveguides for the Sensing and Communication Technologies of Tomorrow
Project Partners:
- KIMW Research GmbH (non-profit), Lüdenscheid
- Ruhr University Bochum, Chair of Electronic Circuit Design
- DREYPLAS GmbH, Meerbusch
- WZB Berger GmbH, Salzkotten
Since July 2025, the POLYWISE consortium has been working together to develop next-generation polymer-based signal transmission solutions – within a three-year project framework.
The POLYWISE project is paving the way for a new generation of high-frequency components: the development of innovative polymer-based materials for dielectric waveguides – a forward-thinking alternative to traditional metal-based solutions.
This technology enables new approaches in signal transmission and sensing – lightweight, efficient, and free from metals or rare earth elements. The project will demonstrate the functionality of the new material by implementing both a near-field sensor and a high-frequency signal transmission line.
Key Technology Benefits:
- Metal-free and resource-saving signal transmission
- Lightweight polymer conductor structures
- Easy integration into existing sensor systems
- High-frequency compatible and electromagnetically transparent
POLYWISE combines materials innovation with application-oriented development – driving the future of intelligent sensing and communication systems.
